Essay on Titanic Empty Essay on Titanic

Message  carles12 Sam 20 Oct 2012 - 20:06

Hello everybody ! content

I'm creating this subject to ask you some questions about Titanic. Indeed, for my school, I'm preparing an essay on Titanic (yes, in English !) and I'll present it for the BAC.

It will be an oral examination in which I have to present the Titanic.
Therefore, I have to do a plan, with three parts and three under-parts in each parts.

My problematic would be :
How did the Titanic to become so famous ?

My plan would be :
I) Chronology of real facts
II) The mysteries of the Titanic (i.e. the book entitled Titanic posted just before the real story)
III) The legend (film)

But I don't really know what can I put in each parts... I need some help, please... Thank you ! pou

Mon plan serait :
I) Chronologie des faits réels

Merci ! pou

You probably talk about The Wreck of the Titan, don't you ?

I should be able to help you as long as you want without further problems.
But first of all, would you mind correct "examination" in "exam" and erase the "to" in the sentence "How did the Titanic to become so famous"
^^

So, I can translate for you the different tips given by the others, I can help you build your essay, etc...
Nothing is impossible!^^

Oh, I forgot to precise : I'm not really a good man in English...

erase the "to" in the sentence "How did the Titanic to become so famous"

Yep, I don't know why I put this "to" here.
So, giving :

How did the Titanic become so famous ?

I) Chronology of real facts
a.
b.
c.

II) The mysteries of the Titanic
a. The Wreck of the Titan posted just before the real story
b.
c.

III) The legend
a. Film
b.
c.

I think it's not bad.
I don't really know if I'll put three under-parts in my I because I don't know what can I put there... Smile

The original title was Futility, the author was Morgan Robertson and the book was published in 1898 by M. F. Mansfied. A second edition was of course, published in 1912, juste after the sinking of the Titanic, under the title The Wreck of the Titan and a translation in French is available here : http://www.corsaire-editions.com/?q=le+naufrage+du+titan

Effectivement, enlève le "man" rire

Bon, on pourrait te proposer le plan suivant:

How did the Titanic become so famous ?

I) Chronology of real facts
a. The idea
b. Building the Titanic
c. The Sinking

II) The mysteries of the Titanic
a. The Wreck of the Titan posted published just before the real story
b. The accident during the departure
c. Different strange facts

III) The legend
a. The movies made afterwards
b. The different associations
c. Titanic Superforum rire The Wreck

Qu'en penses-tu?

Well, 1912 was the apogee of the White Star Line, and the Titanic symbolized the progress of this time. People had confidence in the future, but the sinking of the Titanic was a sort of return to the reality... It was like the society realized suddenly that nothing can be perfect - not even the Titanic!

There is a survivor (but I forgot her name) who said: "The world woke up on the morning of April 15, 1912."

It was well said.

Two years later, the First World War was declared, and became one of the greatest horrors of our History. This is also why the Titanic is so famous, because the sinking symbolized the end of an era that has gone with her (do not forget that in english a ship is like a lady).

Strange facts always interested the public, but I don't think this is the most important in the story of the Titanic.

In "Different strange facts", I think you could talk about this guy who appeared at the top of the 4th funnel, about the number of the titanic which in a mirror, says "no pope", about the letter of George Beedem, a crew member who wrote "I'd love to see this damn boat at the bottom of the sea", and all these strange facts that are now interpreted as warnings for the tragedy.

In "Different associations", you could talk about all these associations created for the preservation of everything about the Titanic:
the AFT (Association Française du Titanic), the THS (Titanic Historical Society), the NPS (Nomadic Preservation Society), etc....
You can even say that the Sinking created an enthusiasm all around the world, not only in the countries where the Titanic was seen (Ireland, England, France) or expected (USA)...

One thing that might be interesting, is to include some testimonies of survivors in your text to illustrate the parts and under-parts.
